Remembering Kent State - May 4th

Today is a good day to remember the thirteen victims of shootings by the National Guard during anti-war protests at Kent State University on May 4, 1970.  Four of the victims died, while a fifth was paralyzed for life.  The remaining 8 victims who were shot did not die or receive permanent injuries.

The day before the shootings, Ohio Governor Rhodes gave a press conference at a fire station in Kent calling the student protestors un-American.  He also said, "I think that we're up against the strongest, well-trained, militant, revolutionary group that has ever assembled in America."  This proved to be false.
